Essex County, NJ Addiction Treatment Resources Guide

Essex County, New Jersey Drug and Alcohol Rehab Guide

If you suffer from substance use disorder, including drug addiction and alcoholism, you may need a long treatment process known as rehabilitation or rehab to recover from the disease entirely. It aims to stop substance misuse and tackle the issues of dependence while creating a long-term plan for recovery and sobriety if you are a user or your loved one is abusing or using drugs and other substances.

The type and treatment facility you may need depends on factors, including the specific type of care you need, the cost of your treatment, therapy, what the facility offers regarding your treatment, and other amenities. Although therefore walking into any rehab facility is not an option, you may need to research and be sure of what you need before requesting admission into a rehab. This guide provides relevant information to help you search for a reliable rehab center.

Drug and Alcohol Treatment Options in Essex County, New Jersey

In Essex County and nearby communities, the following medical and therapeutic interventions are available if you are ready to begin your journey toward recovery and sobriety.

Medical Detoxification

This is the first response or stage in your recovery process. At this stage, a professional medical team helps you by calming physical distress and reducing psychological concerns associated with withdrawal from substances or alcohol. The substances are gradually weaned from your bloodstream using approved medicines to stabilize you and help you overcome withdrawal symptoms. You have around-the-clock medical assistance and mental health care.

Inpatient/Residential Rehab

After medical detox, you may need a live-in treatment approach, where you receive supervised treatment and structured care plans to overcome your addiction. Besides the medical plan, you also receive individual and group therapy. The period ranges from weeks to several months, depending on each patient's unique substance abuse problem or whether they also suffer from a co-occurring condition like mental health problems.

Outpatient Rehab and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

After you have been weaned from the drugs, the next step is staying sober; it's not easy because you are prone to relapse into your old habits. You can live at home but attend individual and group therapy when you schedule with your health care provider. SAMHSA reports that IOPs provide at least 9 hours of therapy weekly delivered in 3-hour sessions. This program offers you core services such as;

  • Group therapy, where you will be involved in psycho-educational groups, skill development groups, stress management, and relapse prevention techniques.

  • Individual counseling.

  • Education about addiction.

  • Medication management and medical treatment.

  • Employment training.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

PHPs offer intense care each day for several hours but allow you to go back home in the evening or to a sober living home if that's where you live during the treatment period. When you are medically stable to live at home, this method allows you to benefit further from the relatively intense supervision, structure, and guidance provided during treatment hours, equipping you with the skills you need to stop using drugs. Some of the services included in PHPs include but aren't limited to;

  • Individual and group therapy

  • Psychiatric sessions

  • Family therapy

  • Treatment planning

  • Substance abuse education

  • Medication management

  • Recreational and social services

Cost of Drug and Alcohol Rehab in Essex County, New Jersey

The cost of treatment, unlike other services, is determined by your unique needs; for example, if you have a history of drug relapse, your treatment will differ totally from a first-time patient in need of treatment and rehabilitation. Ideally, the following factors will dictate the cost of your treatment:
