Many people affected by SUD (substance use disorder) or AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder) try to quit using drugs or alcohol alone, but it’s an uphill task. Few succeed, but many fail to achieve long-term abstinence.
Studies by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) have shown that long-term drug addiction leads to mental challenges that continue long after you have stopped using the drugs or alcohol.
This guide will help you seek help sooner than later and choose a facility that best serves your condition.
When you or a loved one are suffering from substance use disorder or alcohol abuse disorder, you may not know what to do or where to turn. Therefore, knowing what treatment and a full recovery entail are essential. This prepares you mentally and makes the anxiety of treatment less frustrating. Below are a few programs available for treatment and rehabilitation in Teaneck;
Detoxification or detox is a medically assisted treatment (MAT) program geared toward helping you gain stability while your body and mind try to overcome withdrawal symptoms from drugs or alcohol. The toxin is flushed from your bloodstream gradually using approved medicines. These programs may last a few days to several weeks. Once you have achieved stability, you may proceed to an inpatient program depending on your individual needs.
Inpatient or residential rehab programs are live-in treatment options. You will receive around-the-clock supervised treatment and guided and designed care plans to overcome your addiction. Since all interventions depend on an individual’s specific characteristics, you may spend a few weeks or several months as your case may require. You will still receive medically assisted treatment until your body is entirely free of the toxins. This program may be followed by outpatient rehab.
Outpatient programs allow you to attend therapeutic and medical treatment on your own time as you no longer need to be on-site or live at the facility. You can be treated regularly at a substance abuse treatment center, community health clinic, hospital-affiliated clinic, or other facilities. Depending on your schedule, you can choose a facility that offers evening, night, or even weekend programs—this allows you and your family members to carry out your routine activities, including working.
This option offers flexibility and fewer restrictions, unlike inpatient rehab. The program still provides you with access to MAT if you need it, psychiatric support, group therapy, and other help you need during your recovery process. You can continue working as you are allowed to reside at home and only visit the facility for your care plan.
Many factors determine the cost of treatment, including; Geographical location of the facility, duration of commitment, history of drug or alcohol abuse, amenities at the facility and resources used during treatment, method of treatment, and affordability.
The location of the facility: Geographical locations determine the cost of living and the wages in those areas; thus, a facility in an upmarket neighborhood will charge more than one in a rural, sparsely populated location.
Duration of commitment: The time you take to recover will determine how much you will pay for rehab, especially if you stay longer at an inpatient facility.
History of drug or alcohol abuse: If you have taken alcohol or drugs for many years, it will take longer to flush the drug out of your bloodstream.
Amenities at the facility and resources used during treatment: Logically, all extra amenities don’t come free; for example, a facility with a gym, sauna, jacuzzi, or heated pool will charge for those services with the initial treatment charges.
Method of treatment: The different treatment options cost different amounts depending on the intensity and time required. For obvious reasons, inpatient/residential programs cost more than outpatient facilities; the cost of living is not included in outpatient programs.
Affordability: Your financial position will determine where you will seek affordable treatment and whether your insurance plan is paying for the treatment fully or partially.
The National Drug helpline compiled the following summary for rough treatment estimates:
Detox services range from $250 – $800 daily.
Outpatient care lasting up to 3 months costs $1400 – $10,000.
Residential treatment lasting charges between $5000 – $80,000.
Intensive outpatient programs for 30 days may charge $3,100 – $10,000.

The state of New Jersey and a few private stakeholders have some of the best health plans for its residents. These health plans also cover substance use disorders, alcohol use disorders, and mental health disorders, among other diseases. Below are a few insurers that you can approach.
Some private insurance companies cover substance abuse treatment as required by the Affordable Care Act of 2010. Using a private insurance company, you may need to include rehab charges in your premium installment.
TRICARE caters to the insurance needs of active-duty members or honorably discharged veterans, reservists, the military, and the National Guard.
Federal and state governments have insurance policies for low-income individuals and older adults. Medicaid will cover substance abuse treatment costs that vary from state to state if you have a low income, a qualifying disability, or are pregnant. At the same time, Medicare is open for seniors 65+ years and people with a qualifying disability.
Our clinical and medical teams review your personal history and circumstances in order to determine the best treatment plan based on your needs.
During intake you will be asked some more questions about your background & medical history. This allows us to fully formulate your treatment plan.
One of our caring team members will take you around the clinical facilities and introduce you to the rest of our team and current community.
We know that the first day of treatment can be overwhelming for anyone. We work with you to ensure you ease yourself into the treatment process.
